New Breed of Gas Water Heaters Cause Fewer Fires

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), flammable vapors from gas water heaters are responsible for 800 residential fires, causing five deaths and 130 injuries in a typical year. Fortunately, says CPSC in a recent press release, technological advancement has produced a gas water heater that can trap and burn dangerous gases inside the heater, thus preventing the ignition of vapors that would otherwise leak into a home.
