Rice Says CIA Approved Bush's State of Union Info

Friday July 11, 2003
USA Today reports that the White House contends the CIA approved in advance statements made by President Bush in his State of the Union Address that Iraq had tried to acquire nuclear weapons material from Africa. U.S. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice is quoted as saying, "The CIA cleared the speech in its entirety... If the CIA Director of Central Intelligence, had said 'take this out of the speech', then it would have been done." Also See: Headlines from the War on Terror
