Mass. Supreme Court Strikes Same-Sex Marriage Ban

In a 4-3 ruling, the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that the Massachusetts Legislature must rewrite the state’s marriage laws to recognize marriages between gay and lesbian couples. As reported here by CNN, the court found that government lawyers, "failed to identify any constitutionally adequate reason" to deny gay and lesbian couples the same rights as those extended to heterosexual couples.
