Republican Convention Opens Amid Anti-war Protests

Remember the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago when the anti-war protests in the streets garnered more attention than the political gyrations on the convention floor? "The whole world's watching.... etc." Now it's the Republican's turn to host a convention spiked by protests, as the 2004 GOP Convention opens up in New York City. CNN reports that NYC security forces are ready for anarchists to terrorists, should they come by train, truck or bus. So, other than protests, what happens day-by-day during a political convention?
