Details of Federal Response to Hurricane Katrina Aftermath

President Bush has directed Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff to chair a Cabinet-level task force to coordinate all federal government assistance and recovery efforts in response to the catastrophic effects caused by Hurricane Katrina.

In this press release, the Department of Homeland Security details the disaster recovery assistance provided by at least 16 federal agencies as of 8:00 am on Sept. 1, 2005.

Agencies reporting include: FEMA, Coast Guard, National Guard, Dept. of Defense, EPA, Health and Human Services, Transportation, Agriculture, Treasury (IRS), Labor, State, General Services, Small Business Administration and the Red Cross. Complete details…
