Why House Republicans Moved to Withdraw Troops from Iraq
Republican representatives actually proposed their resolution to immediately withdraw the troops in an attempt to force a show of congressional support for continuation of the Iraq war. The Republicans knew their resolution would fail and were counting on the resounding "No" vote it ultimately received.
As reported here by CNN, House Democrats denounced the resolution as a political stunt intended as an attack on Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a decorated Vietnam War hero, who earlier in the week had called for U.S. troops to be withdrawn from Iraq as soon as the withdrawal could be conducted safely. "Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," Rep. Murtha told the House on Thursday.
In a war now dominated by political maneuvers at home, this was yet another.

HAVING THE NATIONAL GUARD GO TO IRAQ MAKES EVERYTHING VERY CLEAR, THE PRESIDENT KNOWS THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT THIS WAR.
IF OUR COUNTRY WAS ATTACKED LIKE WW2 OR WW1 MEN WOULD BE ENLISTING TO FIGHT FOR OUR GREAT COUNTRY. NOW THE ONES FIGHTING ARE NATIONAL GUARD PERSONNEL. (I USED TO BE IN THE GUARD AND EVERYONE WHO EVER HAS SERVED IN THE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD KNOWS THESE MEN AND WOMEN WOULD NEVER WANT TO SERVE IN IRAQ. (JUST WATCH THE SERIES ON DISCOVERY TIMES ABOUT THE NATIONAL GUARD TROOP DEPLOYED). NO ONE WANTED TO GO, THEY HAD NO CHOICE! THEY WATCHED FRIENDS DIE AND HAD THEIR LIVES IN JEPORDY EVERYDAY.
MAYBE THE ONES WHO SHOULD GO TO IRAQ SHOULD VOLUNTEER. I HEAR THESE GREAT AMERICANS ON THE RADIO LIKE RUSH AND HANNITY BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE COURAGE TO SERVE THEIR COUNTRY. WHY NOT ENLIST NOW IF YOU ARE SO IN FAVOR OF IRAQ? NO GUT, THATS WHY. PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE WE BELONG OVER THERE SHOULD VOLUNTEER AND LET THE ONES WHO DO NOT WANT TO GO GET OUT.
MANY OF THE MILITARY SIMPLY ENLISTED FOR COLLEGE. THATS THE FACT, JACK!
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND MR PRESIDENT I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT BECAUSE SO MANY HAVE PAID A GREAT PRICE FOR IRAQ AND THEY CAN NOT EVEN GO OUT FOR A COFFEE!
