President Bush Found 2005 a Successful Year

Wednesday December 28, 2005
Between fading public support for the Iraq war, a congressional setback for arctic oil drilling and a politically damaging response to Hurricane Katrina, you might think 2005 had been a tough year for President Bush.

Quite the contrary, according to a White House Fact sheet, declaring 2005 a year filled with "accomplishments," and overall, "a good year for the American people."

"This has been a year of strong progress toward a freer, more peaceful world, and a prosperous America. We had three sets of elections in Iraq. This is an amazing moment in the history of liberty. A new parliament has been seated in Afghanistan. Our economy is strong and getting stronger; people are working, we've added 4.5 million new jobs since April of 2003; productivity is up; small businesses are flourishing; home ownership is high. It's been a good year for the American people," said President Bush in announcing the release of the Fact Sheet.
