Summer Gas Prices 2006: Harder to Believe

Sunday April 23, 2006
It gets harder and harder to believe that annually soaring summertime gas prices are due to global supply and demand, conversion to summer-blend gas and all that other stuff, and not just blatant profiteering by energy companies.

It gets harder to believe when we read about things like Exxon's chairman getting a $400 million retirement packaged, after leading the oily giant to a record profit of $36 billion in 2005.

It gets harder to believe when U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning blames us.

It gets harder to believe when President Bush gives up and says there is nothing his administration can do about it.

It gets harder to believe that the tiger we put in our tanks years ago has not grown up to eat us alive today.
