U.S. and Vietnam Sign Historic Trade Agreement

The United States and Vietnam yesterday signed a bilateral market access agreement, hailed by U.S. Trade Representative Karan Bhatia as a move creating “significant new opportunities for U.S. producers and exporters of industrial and agricultural goods as well as U.S. services providers.” The agreement was a requirement for Vietnam’s pending membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO).

“This is a great agreement for the United States,” said Bhatia, in a press release. “It opens a vibrant and growing market for American agricultural goods, a range of services, and manufactured products.”
