FTC: Obesity Treatment Won't Wash Away Pounds

Thursday October 19, 2006
Claims by a California company that their "treatment" consisting of three pills and a bar of "special soap" used to "reduce dress sizes," results in substantial, and permanent weight loss, has been declared false and unsubstantiated in charges filed by the Federal Trade Commission.

The obesity treatment widely marketed as "Centro Natural de Salud Obesity Treatment" on Spanish-language infomercials and on the Internet, made claims such as: "Lose 35 pounds in 2 months" -- "Everything you lose, you will never gain back" -- "No diets, no skipping dinner, no calorie counting, no side effects."

Such claims were all far too good to be true, and totally unsubstantiated, according to the FTC’s complaint filed Oct. 16 against Santa Ana, Calif. defendant Centro Natural Services, Inc.
