Congress Tries to Pardon Jailed Border Agents

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a measure that would effectively pardon former Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, convicted of shooting a fleeing Mexican drug smuggler and attempting to cover up the act.

What's that you say? Only the President of the United States has the constitutional power to pardon criminals? True, but this action is a little different. The amendment being considered by Congress would cut off the funding allocated to keeping Ramos and Compean locked in a federal prison. [Find out more...]
