A shrinking supply has resulted in higher fluoride prices and, as the Times-Picayune reported, "sparked a consumer frenzy, with water utilities across the country rushing to stockpile fluorides..."
Like in Evansville, Indiana, where the Courier & Press reports they have been without fluoride since February, and goes on to note, "Evansville is not alone in having unfluoridated water. A shortage of the compound, most often created as a byproduct of phosphate mining, has been reported in cities in New York, Florida, Washington and throughout the Midwest."

Many public health experts believe that the addition of fluoride to drinking water helps prevent tooth decay and promotes overall dental health. Other equally expert health officials contend that fluoride not only does not prevent tooth decay, it can contribute other more serious health problems. As far as the U.S. government is concerned, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) strongly supports the fluoridation of drinking water, and feels the current shortage will be short-lived.
Update: By August 4, New Orleans water officials had found enough fluoride to begin restoring it into their water supply. By August 16, they had run out again and are now looking for more.

Fluoride is a toxic poison and it goes against all reason to say it helps in any way to ingest this aluminum byproduct. Fluoride was used by the Nazis against prisoners to make them sterile and docile, unable to fight against their tyranny. It destroys proper thyroid function and other normal hormonal processes and leads to dental fluorosis, the white spots that form on many people’s teeth. It also destroys bone strength. It is evil that it is being put in any water – I don’t care what the corrupt CDC has to say about it, fluoride is TOXIC and DESTRUCTIVE and should be removed from all water supplies. Call, write, and demand answers from your local officials if your area is fluoridated. Demand an investigation. Research the evidence. Get it removed.
I agree with the previous message left by Andrew. Flouride is toxic and the sooner all cities get it out of their drinking water, the better. There are absolutely no benefits to flouridated water… it is very harmful and causes low thyroid function which can lead to many other health problems. I applaud New Orleans for taking it out of their water and would hate to see it added again.
As a woman diagnosed first with hypothyroidism and finally (10 years later) Hashimoto’s “Disease” (an autoimmune disorder of which hypothyroidism is actually a symptom!), I do want to make people aware (especially the estrogen-heavy [women] that fluoride is poison to the thyroid, not to mention the entire endocrine system. Danger, danger. Avoid fluoride. Don’t need to believe me; do the research and God bless…
Andrew is absolutely correct about fluoride. It is also suspect for promoting Alzheimer’s Disease. New Orleans, wake up!
