1918 Pandemic Flu Online Storybook from CDC

Saturday August 30, 2008
It's not a pretty story, but the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has released an online storybook on the pandemic flu of 1918 that killed more than 50 million people worldwide including an estimated 675,000 people in the United States. That's a death toll exceeding all combined military and civilian deaths during World War I (1914-1918).

Currently containing about 50 stories from survivors, families, and friends, the storybook describes the terrible pandemic in personal narratives, photos and videos from storytellers.

CDC hopes the storybook will develop into a resource for public health officials in preparing for the threats of future pandemics.

"It's an excellent resource, not only for public health professionals, but for people of all ages," said Sharon KD Hoskins, CDC project coordinator in a press release. "It’s probably the closest to experiencing the real thing that many of us can imagine."

With Big Pharma so pervasive in our lives, in like Flynn with the govt, and so profitable, the public has to be one step ahead….and stay informed.

I sure hope another Pandemic does not hit our world again. I can’t bear to see that many people die!! Hopefully it will stay out of the US again.
