FEMA to Pay Hotel Bills for Gustav Victims

Monday September 8, 2008
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced it will pay the hotel and motel bills of Hurricane Gustav evacuees who cannot return to their homes until it is safe for them to do so.

As FEMA begins to close its group Gustav shelters, victims whose homes or neighborhoods were too badly damaged to allow them to return will be allowed to stay in participating hotels and motels, with their lodging paid by FEMA through at least Oct. 3, 2008.

Victims who chose to stay in hotels and motels, instead of FEMA shelters, may also be eligible for reimbursement under other FEMA programs.
