Laura: I’d call some appliance stores and ask what rebates they’ll be offering on the Energy Star appliances you’re interested in. In the case of large appliances, like refrigerators, AC units, etc., if my old one was still working, yeah, I’d be tempted to wait. Bottom line is, check with your dealers.
