President Obama this morning did something no other president has ever seen the need to do -- release a copy of his birth certificate.
Obama called the controversy over the validity of his Hawaiian "Certification of Live Birth," called into question by so-called "birthers," a distraction from the major challenges facing the nation.
"Over the last two-and-a half years, I have watched with amusement. I have been puzzled with the degree with which this thing just kept going," stated the President. "We are not going to be able to solve our problems if we get distracted by side shows."
"At a time of great consequence for this country - when we should be debating how we win the future, reduce our deficit, deal with high gas prices, and bring stability to the Middle East, Washington, DC, was once again distracted by a fake issue," stated White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer on the White House blog.
The certificate shows that the President was born "Barack Hussein Obama, II" on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii.
"We have better stuff to do," said the President. "This issue should be over."

Does this certificate have an embossment? Because if it does not it is not a legal document showing birth.
The requirement for an embossed seal applies to birth certificates submitted along with applications for U.S. passports and some other government-issued documents. It does not apply in this case. The White House’s decision to release this “Certification of Live Birth” was entirely voluntary.
I can understand the sentiments attached to a black man in a white house but I am stunned that a renowned world power through whom most of the developing world look up to for leadership did not take appropriate measures to verify the validity of the candidacy of their elected president prior to his election, only for the opposition to make public their pettiness by raising such a sensitive but frivolous issue in the midst of better and more profitable issues such as fuel prices,cutting down the debt ratio and strengthening and fulfilling the social contract entered with the American people. Its a shame!!!

The number of Kenyan’s who insist Obama was born in Kenya is amazing.
Don’t forget, a White Woman giving birth in Kenya is an uncommon event, especually so fifty years ago.
Once and for all, why doesn’t he simply release ALL of the records he is refusing to reveal – just like ALL of our other presidents have done ? Mr. “Inepto” is his own worst enemy !

Whoa! Obama is the first president to produce a birth certificate. I can’t recall a single past president making his college records public. None of this personal documentation is required to run for or serve as President of the United States. Maybe it should be, but it is not.
Check your racism levels, folks! Would this have happened to George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, or a guy named Bart O’Hara? Never! Do you think for one minute anyone could have gotten this far in the political process without that being vetted? Whoa-wait just a minute-John McCain was subjected to an investigation by the Senate in Apr. 08 which resulted in Senate Resolution 511. At that investigation he was required to produce his birth certificate to establish his eligibility under the Constitution as a “natural born citizen” which SR511 defines in part as “born to American citizens” This is one of many times I have heard again this racist bs about no other white person would be required to do this-That is an absolute lie and it needs to be clarified any time it is spoken or written.
Just a minute… John McCain was not born in the USA he was born in Panama, that’s why there was a an investigation. Not the same thing !
If this was such a “distraction” from his more important duties, then I would think that it was his priority to order the correct document. What kind of responsible government official doesn’t have his own appropriate documents???? This President isn’t “TRANSPARENT”, in fact, he is the antithesis of being “transparent”. I just don’t trust him.
