Supreme Court Strikes Down Anti-Sodomy Law

In what gay rights groups are calling a major victory, the U.S. Supreme Court has voted 6-3 to strike down a Texas law banning sex between consenting adults of the same sex. "The petitioners are entitled to respect for their private lives," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the court's majority decision. "The state cannot demean their existence or control their destiny by making their private sexual conduct a crime." Also see: More Supreme Court Decisions
