Bush Begins Push to Extend Patriot Act

Touting the law's effectiveness in preventing further terrorist attacks like those of Sept. 11, 2001, President Bush urged Congress to extend key elements of the U.S. Patriot Act, scheduled to expire in 2005. "To abandon the Patriot Act would deprive law enforcement and intelligence officers of needed tools in the war on terror, and demonstrate willful blindness to a continuing threat," the President said today, in his nationwide radio address.
