Historic Legislation
Sure, you've seen the US Constitution, but here are some laws, acts, and Executive Orders you've probably never seen before. Few have, yet they remain some of our most important and historicaly fascinating examples of the business of democracy.
The Coinage Act
of April 2, 1792
This early Act created our first mint and official money including what are
now some of the most desirable collectables coins; the Gold Eagles, the Dismes
and Half Dismes, and Half Cents.
Lincoln's
Proclomation of April 15, 1861
It must have been hard for Abraham Lincoln to believe what he had to do on
April 15, 1861. The prcolomation he would sign ordered the assembly and movement
of 75,000 Militiamen into the states of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama,
Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas to enforce the Constitution by
means of Marshal Law. President Lincoln had to watch the start of the Civil
War.
