Judiciary Committee Votes for Inquiry
On October 5, 1998, the House
Judiciary Committee debated authorizing formal inquiry against President Clinton. Read
the Opening Statement by Henry J.
Hyde. Later the same evening, the Committee voted 21 - 16 to proceed with the formal
impeachment inquiry to be conducted according to these Official Procedures.
Censure Resolution (12/09/98)
Offered as an alternative to impeachment by Democratic members of the House Judiciary
Committee. (Voted down.)
