Under California law, the State Controller's Office is authorized to sell at public auction the contents of safe deposit boxes unclaimed by their owners for more than three years. In conjunction with online auction provider eBay, these items can now be viewed, bid on and purchased online. All items have been inspected by a certified appraiser. Ready to bid? Basically, persons or parties bidding on items offered by the California State Controller's Office (SCO) on the on-line vendor site must be able to lawfully enter into and form contracts under applicable law. All SCO staff directly involved with this auction are prohibited from participating in the bid process. Be sure to read the complete Terms and Conditions of Sale before bidding.
