Detailing Allied Attacks (CNN) 1:40 pm - U.S. military investigators reported recovering bodies of five of the seven crewmembers killed in the crash of a Marine KC-130 mid-air refueling plane in Pakistan on January 8. 12:30 pm - Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf announced the banning of five Islamic militant groups and told India it was time to negotiate. In an address to the Pakistani people, Musharraf declared that while he wanted peace, his troops were ready to fight if necessary. "Pakistan's armed forces are fully deployed and prepared to face every challenge. We will shed the last drop of our blood for the defense of the country," he said. Israeli officials said the attack was in response to the Palestinian's foiled attempt to smuggle arms via the Red Sea and for the killing of four Israeli soldiers last week. Two boats and a naval police office were hit in the attack. Meanwhile, U.S. planes conducted the heaviest bombing yet on areas around the eastern Afghan town of Khost, a suspected hideout of die-hard al Qaeda fighters.
