  • The Pentagon announced it was considering scaling back the air patrols of over the U.S. underway since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. CNN's sources reported that the flights were draining the resources of the Air Force. [Details on CNN]

2:30 pm - The Pentagon announced that the al Qaeda training camp in eastern Afghanistan near the Pakistan border had been leveled by this weekend's intense bombings. "We have leveled the remaining structures that were found on the surface and we have closed all the caves that we would intend not to be occupied," stated Rear Adm. John Stufflebeem. 3:00 am - US-led airstrikes pounded a 30-40 acre al Qaeda training camp near Khowst along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in eastern Afghanistan.
