6:00 pm - A U.S. Air Force MC-130H troop transport aircraft was hit by small arms fire from the ground while flying a training mission over the Filipino island of Luzon. According to the Defense Department, there were no injuries on board the plane, but one round was reported to have narrowly missed a crewmember. 10:00 am - The Pakistani militant group holding Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl stated they would give the U.S. an additional 24 hours to release Pakistani prisoners from Camp X-Ray before carrying out their threat to kill Pearl. The militant Islamic group has accused Pearl of being a spy for Israel. [See: Pakistan Reporter Kidnap Group Extends Deadline (Reuters)]

6:00 am - The Wall Street Journal appealed to a Pakistani radical group to spare the life of kidnapped reporter journalist Daniel Pearl. The radical Islamic group threatened via email yesterday that it would kill Pearl within 24 hours unless Pakistani detainees held at Camp X-Ray were released by the United States.
