Not Confirmed: 9:00 pm - According to an unnamed U.S. official, the former foreign minister of the deposed Taliban government surrendered to Afghan officials. According to the unnamed U.S. official, Mullah Abdul Wakil Muttawakil surrendered to the mayor of Kandahar. [See: Taliban Foreign Minister Surrenders - U.S. Official (Reuters)]

10:00 am - A knife-wielding group of youths reported to be Arabs attacked a group of Israeli pedestrians in south Jerusalem, critically wounding one woman. Israeli police shot at the attackers and chased them into a nearby forest, where one suspect, who had not been shot, collapsed and died. 9:00 am - Pakistani police reported the arrest of three men believed to have been involved in the kidnapping of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.
