Also Today: The New York Port Authority announced that the bodies of six Port Authority officers, along with the body of the woman they were apparently trying to rescue, had been recovered from the ruins of the World Trade Center on Saturday. [Details from Reuters] 10:00 pm - The FBI warned of possible terrorist attacks against Americans or against U.S. interests in Yemen as early as Tuesday. While the agency did not mention specific targets, the FBI's announcement stated, "recent information indicates a planned attack may occur in the United States or against U.S. interests in the country of Yemen on or about February 12, 2002." John Stufflebeem admitted that the war in Afghanistan had become clouded by confusion. Referring to charges by local Afghan officials that a recent missile attack launched from a CIA unmanned aircraft had killed innocent villagers instead of top al Qaeda leaders, Pentagon spokeswoman Victoria Clarke stated, "It's impossible to say these people are on this side and these people are on the other side. People are on multiple sides, and they switch sides. There was a great deal of confusion about information in general, and we do always try to get to ground truth." [See: More Afghan War Detainees Flown to Cuba (Reuters)] 6:30 am - Israel launched airstrikes against the main Palestinian Saraya security compound in Gaza City. At least two people were reported injured in the raids which appeared to have been staged in continued retaliation to yesterday's killing of two Israeli military women by Palestinian gunmen.
