4:00 pm - At least six Israelis were killed by Palestinian gunmen in an attack on a West Bank Israeli army checkpoint. The shooting represents another incident in the cycle of attack and retaliation between Israel and Palestinian militants that has left 22 dead over the last 24 hours. 7:15 am - Philippine troops battled Abu Sayyaf guerrillas near the spot where U.S. troops had landed last week to advise the Philippines military. According to reports, U.S. troops did not participate in the fighting against the guerrillas, thought to be loyal to Osama bin Laden. 7:00 am - Two Palestinian Hamas activists were killed by a rocket fired from an Israeli helicopter. The two dead men had been inside a a Hamas media center located in the Gaza Strip's Jabalya refugee camp. Nine other civilians, mostly school children were injured in the rocket attack. The attack was thought to have been in retaliation for yesterday's Palestinian suicide bombing attacks that killed four Israelis. [See: Israel Strikes Hamas Target in Gaza, Two Dead (Reuters)
