The vice president plans to work for peace in the Middle East and solicit continued support in the war against terrorism in other countries. [Details from Reuters] 9:00 am - The U.S. withdrew about one-third of its troops fighting al Qaeda and Taliban holdouts in the Mountains of eastern Afghanistan, but U.S. Major Brian Hilferty told reporters at the Bagram air base that Operation Anaconda would continue. "Operation Anaconda continues," he said. "This is not over. If I were an al Qaeda guy, I would not want to go out for a pizza." The announcement by the Israeli army came a day after Palestinian attacks left 13 Israelis dead and Israeli forced destroyed the Gaza City headquarters of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
