US: Appropriate Action Taken After Threat Warning (Reuters) -- White House spokesman Ari Fleischer stated that President Bush had taken "all appropriate action" after being informed of possible aircraft hijackings prior to the Sept. 11, 2002 terrorist attacks. "The president did not -- not -- receive information about the use of airplanes as missiles by suicide bombers. This was a new type of attack that was not foreseen," said Fleischer.
