U.S. Detects 'Enhanced' Threat of a New Attack (Reuters) - U.S. intelligence officials reported detecting "enhanced activity" indicating a potential for new terrorist attacks against the United States or American interests overseas.

Al Qaeda May Be Mulling Apartment Attack, FBI Says (Reuters) - The FBI issued a warning that the al Qaeda terror network may be planning attacks on U.S. apartment buildings. FBI spokeswoman Debbie Weierman stated that al Qaeda operatives are "considering renting apartments in unspecified areas of the United States and then planting explosives."

Rocket Fired at U.S. Personnel in Pakistan (Reuters) - In the third such attack in the last month, a rocket was fired at a building used to house U.S. troops hunting for al Qaeda and Taliban fighters hiding in western Pakistan. As in the first two attacks, the rocket missed its target.

U.S. Bombing Kills 10 in Afghanistan in New Mission (Reuters) - Coalition war planes killed 10 people in a bombing raid against Islamic militants in eastern Afghanistan, reported the U.S. Army. The Army denied claims that a wedding party had been bombed by mistake. "We believe this is an al Qaeda and Taliban area. There were people on the ridge line who fired heavy weapons on an Australian patrol and then chased them. We have a right to self defense," stated U.S. army spokesman Bryan Hilferty.
