Detailing Allied Attacks (CNN) 3:00 pm - Appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press," Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the U.S. was increasing the number of special forces troops on the ground in Afghanistan. "Just last night, the night before, we put in a couple more teams," said Gen. Myers. [See: More U.S. Troops Said on Ground in Afghanistan (Reuters)] 10:00 am - Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, after a meeting with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar, told reporters that Afghanistan's Taliban had ceased to function as a government after a month of allied bombing. "As a military force they [the Taliban] have concentrations of power that exist. They have military capabilities that exist. They are using their power in enclaves ... to impose their will." said Rumsfeld.
