4:00 pm - Charge! Northern Alliance troops mounted on horseback staged cavalry attacks against Taliban tanks and armored vehicles in the rugged mountains near the key northern Afghanistan town of Mazar-e-Sharif, the Pentagon stated. Marine Gen. Peter Pace, vice chairman of the U.S. military Joint Chiefs of Staff told reporters "This is opposition forces riding horseback into combat against tanks and armored personnel carriers. 1:50 pm - Justice Department agents moved to further shut down Osama bin Laden's financial network, taking two men into custody in Massachusetts. Additional raids were conducted in Boston, Massachusetts; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Seattle, Washington; and Columbus, Ohio. Arrests in the U.S. and In five other countries were being made in an effort to shut down the finances of the Barakaat and al Taqua terrorist networks. 6:15 am - As U.S. bombing of Kabul and Kandahar continued, the Taliban claimed their power had not been diminished ant the the allied attacks had killed more civilians than Taliban fighters.
