8:15 pm - Despite an agreement by the Taliban to surrender the town by Sunday, fierce fighting continued around Konduz. According to CNN reporters on the scene, Northern Alliance troops doubt the sincerity of the surrender agreement and fear that hard-line, non-Afghan Taliban fighters will refuse to put down their weapons.
