Not Confirmed 7:10 pm - An unnamed military official told reporters that the U.S. is "reasonably certain" they have heard Osama bin Laden directing his al Qaeda protectors on short-range radio, thus indicating that bin Laden is still in the Tora Bora region. 7:40 am - After confirming that a nearby air-to-ground missile site was under the control of Alliance forces, the U.S. resumed flights into the Kandahar airport in southern Afghanistan. 7:00 am - U.S. jets continued to al Qaeda fighters thought to be protecting Osama bin Laden in rugged mountains near Tora Bora. The Pentagon placed the remaining number of al Qaeda at from 300 to 1,000. [See: Forces close in on al Qaeda (CNN)
