  • The Pentagon announced that al Qaeda and Taliban prisoners in Afghanistan would be relocated to U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. [Details on CNN]

11:15 am - Speaking from his Texas ranch, President Bush confirmed that the U.S. did not know where Osama bin Laden was, but that he would be found. "He's on the run, if he's running at all. We don't know whether he's in a cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open. We just don't know. There's all kinds of reports and all kinds of speculation," said President Bush. 9:30 am - Three Somali war lords asked for help from the international military community in ridding Somalia of radical Islamic groups al Qaeda and al-Itihad they say are currently active at several bases in the African country. 7:00 am - Emphatically stating Osama bin Laden had fled to Pakistan, the Afghan interim government asked for a quick end to U.S. bombing in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan's resolve to the war on terrorism was being tested by its own deepening crisis with India over the Kashmir province.
