House Passes Bill to Arm All Pilots (07/10/02)
By a lopsided majority, the House has passed a bill, opposed by President Bush, which would allow more than 70,000 commercial airline pilots to carry guns in the cockpit.

Congress Gives Yucca Mountain Final Okay (07/09/02)
Overriding Nevada's veto, the U.S. Senate has cleared the way for final licensing and construction of the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste storage facility, located some 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

Bush Calls for Ouster of Arafat (06/24/02)
President Bush today demanded the removal of Yasser Arafat and other Palestinian leaders he said were "encouraging, not opposing, terrorism," as a condition for creation of a Palestinian state in the Middle East.

House Passes Permanent Estate Tax Repeal (06/06/02)
By a vote of 256-171, the House passed H.R. 2143, making the repeal of the estate tax permanent.

House Passes 2002 Supplemental Spending Act (05/24/02)
By a narrow 213-201 vote, the House passed the $28.8 billion fiscal 2002 supplemental spending bill, H R 4775.

House Passes Welfare Reform Act (05/16/02)
By a vote of 299-197 the House passed the Personal Responsibility, Work, and Family Promotion Act. Backed by the White House, the bill passed by the House lengthens welfare recipients work week from 30 hours to 40 hours, and boosts from 50 to 70 the percentage of recipients required to work. House Okays Nevada Nuclear Waste Plan (05/08/02)
Overriding a protest by Nevada's Governor, the House has voted 306-117 to approve the Yucca Mountain, Nevada nuclear waste storage plan.

Farm Subsidies Pass House (Reuters) (05/02/02)
The House voted 280-131 to approve the Conference Report on H.R. 2646 - Farm Security Act. The bill promises to provide Midwestern and Southern states with billions of dollars in farm subsides. The Senate is expected to approve the Conference Report next week, clearing the bill for President Bush's signature.

Bill to Dismantle INS Passes in House (4/25/02)
The House of Representative by a 405-9 vote has passed the bill H.R. 3231, dismantling the Immigration and Naturalization service and splitting it into a new agency and two bureaus. The bill must now be considered by the Senate. Earlier today President Bush has announced supported bill. [...More]

Traficant guilty of bribery, racketeering (CNN)
Flamboyant nine-term Democratic Rep. James Traficant of Ohio was found guilty by a Cleveland jury of bribery and racketeering. Traficant faces a possible total of 63 years in prison. House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt has called for Traficant's immediate resignation from the House.

State of the Union Address (01/29/02)
Focusing on his administration's "three great goals for America," President George W. Bush presented his State of the Union Address to a joint session of Congress.
