College and High School Convention 2000

Over 2,000 US college and high school students are expected to attend the College and High School Convention 2000 in New Hampshire on January 13 - 15, 2000 just two weeks prior to the New Hampshire presidential primary.
College Convention 2000 (CC2K) is a national nonpartisan convention designed to educate and inspire college and high school students to participate in the government process.
As of 12/17/99, presidential candidates John McCain, Pat Buchanan, Bill Bradley, and Alan Keyes had confirmed to address the convention. Also attending will be Howard Phillips (Constitution Party), John Hagelin (Natural Law Party), Daniel Clay (Reform Party), Dr. Heather Harder (Democrat), and John Anderson (Independent). Students from 40 states and nearly 200 colleges and universities had pre-registered as delegates.
At the convention, thirty-five interest groups, from competing sides, will present and debate social and economic issues such as gun control, abortion, and tax reform,
Student delegates will vote electronically on presidential candidates, plus a mixture of pre written resolutions prepared by the various special interest groups and on resolutions written prior to the first day of voting. The votes will be recorded and collected electronically via an on site LAN with authentication and security provided by iballot.com.
New Hampshire media sources, including the politically influential Manchester Union Leader have referred to College and High School Convention 2000 as the largest single event of the New Hampshire Primary.
College and High School Convention 2000 will take place at the historic Center of New Hampshire - Holiday Inn Expo Center on January 13 -15.
