From the Files of the FBI
With the adoption of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act in 1974, individuals gained the right to access information about themselves collected and held by any agency of the Federal Government. Basically, the Acts compelled government to answer the question, "What does the government know about me?"
No government agency knows more about more of us than the FBI. Fortunately, the FBI makes it easy to get this information by making much of it available for downloading in their FOIA Electronic Reading Room. (All files require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and can be as large as 6 megabytes.)
