Small Business Grants and Loans
This article explains that the best source of help are the many low interest rate loans offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Links are provided to the appropriate SBA Web sites and to information on the federal grants that are available for the small business industry. The article also explains the government's definition of what qualifies as a "small" business. From your About.com Guide.

Any bank, savings and loan, or credit union should be able to help you apply for an SBA loan. Fact of the matter is, if you are serious about starting any business, you're going to need a good working relationship with a local bank. Other local sources of assistance could be offered by colleges and universities. Check with the business administration departments or a department dealing with your specific area of interest. Some cities have economic development programs that could help you out.
