African Embassy Bombings - One Year Ago

On August 7, 1998, terrorist bombs exploded at U.S. Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The bombs killed 224 people including 12 Americans. Thousands of other people were injured.
Seventeen persons have been charged by U.S. federal prosecutors in New York. Nine suspects remain at large, including Saudi, Usama Bin Laden, who is accused of ordering the attack.
Yesterday (August 7), Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, marked the anniversary of the embassy bombings by pledging that "we will not rest" until the terrorists responsible are caught.
