New Money!
Redesigned $5 and $10 in 2000

Guide Extra: 11/16/99

The Treasury Department today officially unveiled new designs for the U.S. $5 and $10 notes. The new bills, due to go into circulation mid-2000, feature anti-counterfeiting methods similar to those used on the $20, $50, and $100 notes already in circulation. As always, old $5 and $10 notes will continue to be honored at full face value forever.
