03/14/00 Primary Update (Final)
Both Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Al Gore wrapped up their party's presidential nominations by sweeping primaries in Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

This marks the earliest date in modern election history that both major party nominees have been known. We can now look ahead to eight solid months of debate between Gov. Bush and Vice President Gore.

03/13/00 Primary Update
Winning tomorrow's primaries in Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi would ensure both Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Al Gore more than the minimum number of delegates required to win nomination. Gore is now virtually unopposed while Alan Keyes remains the only GOP challenger to Gov. Bush.

A total of 340 Republican and 669 Democratic delegates are available in tomorrow's primaries. [Current delegate counts]

03/11/00 Primary Update
The nomination expresses rolled along for Vice President Al Gore and Texas Gov. George W. Bush on Friday with each candidate easily winning primaries in Utah and Colorado.

"Tonight's victory is a testimony to the power and resonance and energy of a new message, a message of reform and renewal called compassionate conservatism," said Bush according to a Reuters story.

"Tonight was a great victory, but let me tell you: You ain't seen nothing yet," said Gore according to a CNN story.

03/09/00 Primary Update
Republican Sen. John McCain today announced his withdrawal from the 2000 presidential campaign. While he offered his rival George W. Bush best wishes, he stopped short of endorsing Bush's candidacy. McCain promised supporters that he would continue to fight for them and his platform in the U.S. Senate.

Earlier in the day, Democratic Sen. Bill Bradley withdrew his candidacy and endorsed Vice President Al Gore. Bradley asked supporters for unity in the Democratic party.
