Good Neighbor Next Door Home Sales Program

Program Description
Through the federal Good Neighbor Next Door Sales Program, qualifying law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, or teachers may be able to buy a home in a HUD-revitalization area at 50% discount off the list price of homes available from HUD's inventory of available homes.

General Eligibility Requirements
Qualifying participants must be or have been a law enforcement officer, firefighter, emergency medical technician, or teacher, be employed (full-time) and be a current or prospective homeowner. Participants must commit to live in the home for at least 36 months as their sole residence.

How to Apply
Qualifying participants should check HUD's listing of available homes in their state and follow the instructions to submit an application. If more than one person submits on a single home a selection will be made by random lottery.

HUD requires buyers to sign a second mortgage and note for the discount amount.
