Novel Reveals 7 Deadly Sins of Congressmen

Can you identify these "sinning" denizens of D.C.?

To celebrate the release of Brad Meltzer's New York Times bestselling novel "The Zero Game," Warner Books is challenging Capitol Hill staffers to reveal seven of the deadliest "sins" that are happening behind closed doors on Capitol Hill.

Whether you are a regular citizen or Capitol Hill staffer, contest goers can log onto The Zero Game Website to see if they can identify which member of Congress committed acts that would not be believable if not for the fact they are true. The contest will run through March 1st, with the winners receiving a full set of signed books that have been penned by Meltzer.

"The Zero Game" (Compare Prices) was first published in hardback in January 2004 and debuted at #3 on the coveted New York Times bestsellers list. The political thriller is about a secret game being played on Capitol Hill, where Senate staffers are literally gambling on Congress. The idea for the book came to Meltzer when he was a nineteen year-old intern for the Senate Judiciary Committee, and was researched for two years with the help of Members of Congress, top lobbyists, and dozens of Senate and House staffers.

The questions are:

LUST: Which Senator once reached for a handkerchief in his pocket and proceeded to wipe his brow with a pair of women's panties?

ENVY: Which Senator once had a dimmer switch in their secret hideaway?

SLOTH: Which current Congressman uses the term "Great Americans" as a codeword to ask his staff if the person he's speaking to is a big donor?

PRIDE: Which Member talks so much on the House floor, a group of staffers set up a betting jar for the Member to shut up (if the Member doesn't speak, you win what's in the jar)?

GLUTTONY: Which Congressman uses this little trick: An Indian group will give money to the Virginia Republicans or Democrats, who will then -- wink-wink -- donate money to a different state's Republicans or Democrats, who will then earmark that money to the Congressman, so it doesn't look like he's in bed with anyone.

WRATH: Which Cardinal on Appropriations threatened to bring attention to a Library of Congress race discrimination lawsuit as a way of getting what he wanted from the Administration?

GREED: Which lobbyist gave cigarette money to a Member of Congress who had two liver transplants?

Brad Meltzer is the New York Times bestselling author of "The Tenth Justice," "Dead Even," "The First Counsel," "The Millionaires," and "The Zero Game." He's also the co-creator of the TV show "Jack & Bobby," as well as a lawyer, a former speechwriter for President Clinton's National Service Program, and the number one selling author of the comic book sensation "Identity Crisis," a murder mystery with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

Spending two years researching each book, Brad has been an expert on CNN, Court TV, and Fox News, where he has made numerous appearances to talk about President Bush's twin daughters, his expertise on Presidential children, and what it's like to grow up in the White House. He also speaks frequently on tracking Osama Bin Laden's assets, and how terrorists hide their money. His appearances include "The O'Reilly Factor," "The Paula Zahn Show," "Greta Van Susteren," "Fox & Friends" "Cavuto on Business" and many more.
