DoDEA Assistant Principal--South Korea
- School Administrators work on a 222 day schedule. We don't receive Christmas Leave or Spring Break Leave unless we take it off of our sick leave banks or our summer work schedule. DoDEA is always talking about saving money and the furlough, etc. I would like our work schedule reduced from 222 to 212 days. Administrators could take the Christmas time to be with families or the much needed spring break. Teachers and students are not at school and that could be a caveat to giving the days (not when students are in session). There are many Principals, Assist. Prin., and ISS people on the 222 day schedule. If it were reduced to 212 and the pay were reduced by 10 days, that would save a great deal of money in salaries and building maintenance fees, cooling, etc. It would make the furlough easier to swallow.

federal budget NOT like a household budg
- No one on this forum understands that federal finances are not like personal finances. The federal government is the issuer of our currency. Its IOUs are always accepted in payment. Government actually spends by crediting bank deposits (and credits the reserves of those banks); if you don’t want a bank deposit, government will give you cash; if you don’t want cash it will give you a treasury bond. People will work, sell, panhandle, lie, cheat, steal, and even kill to obtain the government’s dollars. I wish my IOUs were so desirable. I don’t know any household that is able to spend by crediting bank deposits and reserves, or by issuing currency. OK, some counterfeiters try, but they go to jail.

federal govt does not need to save
- If the government "saves" or pays less money (CUTS SPENDING) to food stamp recipients, social security recipients, medicare providers, soldiers, military equipment manufacturers, doctors, nurses, hospitals, road and bridge and dam builders, farmers, poor people, teachers, home builders, railroad personnel, security-related firms and to all the other businesses selling to the government, the belief is that the private sector somehow will grow economically or have more money for investment. The exact OPPOSITE happens. Federal spending is spent back into the economy by those receiving it. This acts as a stimulus. Folks on here act like the money goes down a giant hole somewhere. ignorance abounds judging from most comments here. And once again, this is why our leaders have managed to guide us into an average of one recession every five years-by DECREASING deficit spending. The federal government (monetarily sovereign) neither has nor does not have dollars! Yikes!.

Transit Checks
- Currently IRS employees (and most likely other Government Agencies) receive quarterly checks for the employee to commute back and forth to work on Public Transportation (SEPTA). I Suggest ending this. The public does not get their transit between their home and workplace paid for so why should government employees? I am not sure how much the IRS/Government actually pays for this benefit, however, it is most likely costly to them.

What I do to save money is on our big well meter in stead of buying a new one for 700 dollars I test and callabrate for 100.Back to the phospourus limits coming, the neighboring states are not bound to these limits are they why should Wisconsin shoulder these limits when minnisota dont or iowa or illinoise.

Cap locality pay
- Anyone making over $75,000 year should not receive locality pay. Cap locality pay. Plus, fed employees working overseas should only receive overseas pay not both. The State Dept. is currently paying locality pay(DC rate$$$) and oversea pay to its employees. Just pay one please.
