Group Names 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress

Friday September 22, 2006
The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has released its second annual report on who they consider the most corrupt members of the 109th U.S. Congress entitled "Beyond DeLay: The 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and five to watch)."

Removed from this years CREW corruption list are Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham (R-CA), who is now serving an 8-year prison term for bribery and Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), who has agreed to plead guilty to charges of fraud and conspiracy.

CREW compiles its annual list of those it considers to be the "most tainted" members of Congress based on their analysis of the members' compliance with federal laws and congressional rules and ethics. This year, CREW lists 3 senators and 17 congressmen, and places 5 more congressmen on its corruption "watch list."

“Beyond DeLay: The 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and five to watch).”
This is indeed a commendable work, but what if anything is going to be done about it?
Like the mafia or even the innumerable extremists groups all over the world the corrrupt politicians are here to stay, aided and abetted by the corrupt in society. And money wise and other wise they are strong or even stronger than the clamouring public. And corruption begets corruption

This is an ACLU group and you have done a disservice to the About.com website. Please get your facts correct. Thanks

The only “fact” stated in the story is that CREW released a list of who they consider to be the 20 most corrupt members of Congress. That fact is correct.

Gee, I didn’t know that the ACLU had changed its name to CREW. Thanks for the info.

I know this list cannot be correct because Teddy Kennedy is no where to be found.

Absolutely. Teddy Kennedy should make this list. How can anyone even consider to block the windmills proposed for Nantucket Sound. What a class A for A-hole.
