If it’s good enough, and it had better be really good, your idea on how to reform the U.S. health care system could win you $10 million, which would be just about enough to buy your own health insurance these days.
The $10 million prize for the best idea to “create an optimal health paradigm that empowers and engages individuals and communities in a way that dramatically improves health value,” is being offered by the X-Prize Foundation, the same outfit that in 2004, paid out $10 million for the much less complicated task of putting the first privately funded and built spacecraft into earth orbit.
To win the $10 million, your health care plan will have to demonstrate that it has improved the “health value” of a community of 10,000 people by at least 50 percent over a three year trial period. All you need to do, according to the X-Prize folks is “fundamentally change health financing, care delivery, and create new incentives that will result in achieving the required improvements in health value for both individuals and communities.” Yeah, makes that little orbital spacecraft thing seem pretty simple, doesn’t it?
As you formulate your X-Prize winning national health care reform “paradigm,” be sure to keep in mind the pros and cons of a nationalized health care system, and the fact the President Obama is working away on his own national health insurance plan.

There are several articles outlining basic reform ideas on my blog, http://www.FitTrimHealthy4Life.com. Take any of the ideas and run with it! I have also just published a book which includes a section on what private corporate health insurers may impose on us as new fees/surcharges (StrategicBookPublishing.com/TransformingBodyMindAndSpirit.html).
