Friday November 6, 2009

Officials at the Fort Hood, Texas US Army base have established two telephone hotlines through which families can get information on soldiers stationed at the base, which was the scene of a deadly shooting on Wednesday. The toll-free number is 1-866-836-2751, and the local number is 254-288-7570.

On Wednesday, a Fort Hood-stationed Army psychiatrist, identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, opened fire in a military processing center, killing one civilian and 12 soldiers. Hasan was wounded in the attack and is reported to be in stable condition on Friday.
