Solis Announces Facebook Partnership Nearly 11,000 people already "Like" the U.S. Department of Labor's new "Social Jobs Partnership" page on Facebook, an online resource Labor Secretary Hilda Solis hopes will help the nation's more than ample community of job seekers become job holders.

"Linking American job seekers with the resources they need to get back to work is a top priority of the Obama administration and my department," said Secretary Solis in a press release. "By leveraging the power of the social Web, this initiative will provide immediate, meaningful and ready-to-use information for job seekers and employers, and a modern platform to better connect them."

Created through a partnership with Facebook itself, the Social Jobs Partnership page currently features training programs, educational opportunities and job search resources offered by the Department of Labor, and its three other partners in the social Web jobs initiative, the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, the Direct Employers Association and the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

Facebook also announced that it would help job seekers find and use the Social Jobs Partnership page with online public service announcements appearing in geographic areas experiencing high unemployment.

"Facebook is about connecting people, so that they can share what's important to them, and that is the driving force behind the social jobs partnership," said Marne Levine, Facebook's vice president of global public policy. "We've brought employers, recruiters, college career services and government agencies together to help the millions of Americans who use Facebook to find jobs."
